Founded in 1945 in St. Paul by father-and-son team Harry and David Bloomberg, Restwell quickly earned a reputation for mattresses made with honesty, quality, and a deep commitment to family values. For 45 years, the Bloomberg family operated the business with an unwavering focus on craftsmanship and customer trust.

In 1990, the Carlson family—longtime innovators in Minnesota’s flooring industry—purchased Restwell with those same values in mind. Eager to bring their expertise from Carpet King, they relocated the factory to Eden Prairie and expanded both the retail and commercial sides of the business. Over the decades, the Carlsons continued to uphold Restwell’s foundational principles while evolving to meet the needs of a growing customer base.

In 2025, ownership transitioned to Jon and Beth Melander. Having grown up watching her parents steward Restwell through decades of innovation and community connection, Beth stepped into daily leadership with pride. Today, she and Jon carry on the family tradition, ensuring every mattress we produce reflects the heritage, craftsmanship, and values that define Restwell.
